Operations of Military express air delivery (Red Ball Express) and the Army Medical Service, supporting war in Vietnam
Air cargo terminal at Travis Air Force Base, California. High priority (Red Ball Express) cargo is loaded onto an aircraft for delivery to Vietnam. Upon arrival it is sorted for immediate delivery to the requestors. Computer room of the 14th Inventory Control Center, featuring reel-to-reel tape decks and Hollerith punch card equipment. Aerial views of numerous medical facilities of the Army Medical Service, in Vietnam. A medical evacuation helicopter lands and wounded soldiers, on stretchers, are placed aboard, and flown to medical facilities for treatment. Inside an Air Ambulance helicoptor, a personnel hoist, upon which a stretcher can be placed, is lowered to the ground. Also shown, is a search and rescue "jungle penetrator" that facilitates rescue of a downed pilot or other person from dense jungle where landing is impossible. Location: Vietnam. Date: 1967.
